How sad it is, and how much of a shock it is to be bumped back to reality, as I suddenly realise the thinness of the portion of the book I have left to read. It's like the last, thinning numbers of pages I hold in my right hand are akin to the last few grains of sand in the hourglass that measures my time left in the magical kingdom spun for me - that few moments before I'm yanked back through some portal into the real world.
I certainly have experienced this feeling in the past, but not for a while now. I wonder if it's because I have access to a huge library at NUS and also because I have quite few books that I've bought and am yet to read. Often now I'm looking forward to finishing a book so that I can move on to the next one.
Update: That passage I quoted was written BY Serena. Wow. Brilliant!
