Some good news

Via AmP

This Thursday Bishop Loverde delivered our anti-FOCA postcards by hand to the offices of Senators Webb and Warner.

He was told how much weight comes with a personal visit to a lawmaker, and knowing how detrimental FOCA and its other iterations would be, he wanted to have a chance to speak directly with our representatives to convey the seriousness of these issues ... taking with him nearly 200,000 post cards [pictured left].

He ended up talking about FOCA, the Conscience Clause and abortion (he met with Sen. James Webb and spoke with a policy representative from Warner’s office as well).

And from the Curt Jester:

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, the chairman of the Democratic National Committee, has signed a bill into law banning the use of some state funds for embryonic stem cell research.

The move puts the DNC chairman at odds with President Obama, who signed an executive order earlier this month reversing the Bush administration's ban on federal funding for research on embryonic stem cells.

Kaine approved the Virginia bill on Monday, according to the governor's office, the same day he enacted legislation that would permit "Choose Life" license plates in the commonwealth -- an act that angered state and national abortion rights advocates.

It is nice to be able to praise a Catholic Democrat for a change.

Lynda Tran, the governor's communications director, said that Kaine's decision is "in keeping with his faith and his personal beliefs."

What keeping with his faith and personal beliefs? Didn't he get the memo about not having to do this?

"The governor is opposed to the use of state funds to fund embryonic stem cell research, but he generally agrees with the national platform broadly, that there are scientific values to stem cell research," Tran said. "In Virginia, where there has been strong opposition to embryonic research, he has chosen to focus on other forms of research like adult and placental stem cell research."

Feddie asks at Sounthern appeal "Who would have thought that the DNC chairman would be more prolife than the GOP chairman?"

BREAKING NEWS: SSPX Bishop Fellay Named New Archbishop of Saint Louis

In a bold and surprising move, the Holy See today announced that His Excellency Bernard Fellay, General Superior of the Society of St. Pius X, has been named as the new Archbishop of Saint Louis. [No wonder the Bolletino was down for a while…]

This appointment was accompanied by a decree from the Congregation for Bishops that provides immediate temporary jurisdiction for SSPX priests and bishops worldwide. This temporary jurisdiction involves the elevation of the SSPX to a personal prelature, [I am a bit surprised by the use of a personal prelature. I would have thought there would be a different structure. But given that Archbp. Burke surely still has some interest in his successor, perhaps he suggested this canonical solution.] but this structure is only granted for 2 years, subject to review.

Regarding the last article, I must say: APRIL FOOL!
Haha. His red comments made the thing so much more believable. I was shocked.

The first two articles are true though!! :)
